They’re the highlight of any summer barbeque – it’s the almighty rib. Whether they’re beef or baby back, ribs are a decadent meal that no one wants to waste. That’s why we’ve been searching for the best way to reheat this delicious cut of meat. Here are the two best ways that we’ve found to reheat ribs.
Method: Oven Reheat
Oven reheating is one of the best ways to reheat ribs. If done properly, oven reheating will leave with ribs that are tender and full of flavor. Begin by letting your leftover ribs sit out a room temperature. Preheat your oven to a low temperature. For most ovens, the ideal cooking temperature is between 200-250°F.
You will need a baking dish or deep cookie sheet, aluminum foil, and broth or your favorite barbeque sauce. To begin, separate portions of leftover ribs on to pieces of foil. You basically want to create individual pouches for each serving of ribs. Before closing the foil around the leftover ribs, sprinkle a little broth, water or your favorite barbeque sauce on top. Be sure that the ribs are completely covered with foil and that are no small holes or rips.
Arrange the foil-wrapped ribs on the cookie sheet and place it in the oven. Allow the ribs to cook on low heat for 45 minutes to an hour. After the ribs have slowly cooked, remove the foil paper and let the ribs cook for an additional 5-10 on the broil setting. Carefully watch the ribs during this last step to prevent any sauce or the ribs from burning.
Method: On the Grill
The grill is a good and often overlooked reheating method for ribs. You prepared the ribs using a grill, so why not reheat them the same way. The only downside to this method is that you don’t have total control over the temperature.
Start out by heating your grill to medium heat. You can wrap the ribs in aluminum foil or place them directly on the grill. If reheating without foil, place the ribs on the grill with the curved side facing down. Be sure that no flames touch the ribs. Turn the ribs over every 3-4 minutes. You can baste the ribs as you turn them with your favorite sauce or marinade. The ribs should be done after 15-20 minutes. If you’re unsure, use a meat thermometer to make sure that the internal temperature is 165°F.
